Riyad Mahrez ‘announces’ retirement on his official Facebook page — surely he’s been hacked?

We’re not having this for one second.

Fans were momentarily left shocked by Riyad Mahrez’s ‘retirement’ after a message was posted on the Leicester winger’s official Facebook page.

Take a look…

This can’t be legit, can it?

Mahrez’s verified account boasts more than a million followers and many left sympathetic messages expressing their sadness at the prospect of the Algerian international’s career being cut short.

The message read: “After the last consultation with many doctors, I’ve decided to stay away from football.

“As my time as a football player comes to an end, I would like to say few words.

“I want to thank everybody for the kindness and support they have shown me in this incredible city, you will be always in my heart.”

At the time of writing, the post has not been deleted and there has been no follow up.

However, surely Mahrez’s account has been hacked?

The 27-year-old scored a late free-kick to earn Claude Puel’s side a draw at home to Bournemouth at the weekend, showing no signs of injury.

He also trained with the rest of the squad on Tuesday, seemingly getting through the session unscathed.

The message did not appear on any of Mahrez’s other social media accounts and there has been no word from Leicester.

Still, it sent social media into meltdown for a while…

Mahrez retired? WTF? Hoax surely?

There is no way Mahrez has retired. Nothing on Twitter/Instagram.

Likely to be hacked, but if he has then Leicester will be absolutely shook. They could have had 60 mil for him.
