What Twitter said the day Harry Maguire signed for Leicester
*Rushes to delete old tweets*
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, particularly in football and more specifically in the realm of football transfers.
Whenever a ‘bog-standard’ Englishman is transferred with the now notorious ‘premium’ applied to the fee, everyone loves to moan about the state of the market.

Harry Maguire quickly became everyone’s favourite player after his heroic efforts for England at the World Cup in Russia.
The Leicester man’s monumentally sized head, which is effectively a magnet to the ball, and *that* meme have all played a part in Maguire becoming a national treasure.
His performances at the World Cup are rumoured to have convinced Man United and Jose Mourinho to part with around £65million to bring Maguire to Old Trafford.
The centre-back joined the Foxes from Hull in a £17million deal last summer, with the price-tag raising a few eyebrows at the time. Awkward.

So, because absolutely none of us here questioned the signing at all… we’re perfectly entitled to stitch up those who did, right?
And that is exactly what we will do.

Fans couldn’t believe Leicester paid £17million for Maguire and we have the tweets to prove it…
So crazy! He wouldn’t be worth anywhere near that now! Wow! You’re so right!
A Sunday league footballer is about to win the World Cup.
You better believe it.
HAHA LOL gd 1 m8.
Those bloody English teams. Signing all the good English talent and propelling their careers to new heights (literally winning the World Cup).
Ruining the game they are, those English teams!
This one is just rude.
Have you ever seen a pint of Cravendale bang a header against Sweden in a World Cup quarter-final though?
I thought not.
In the same world where he’s guiding England to a World Cup final, that world.
And I absolutely love it.
Neigh.
